OurDream AI Review (2026): Best Writing We Tested, Short Free Trial
Verdict: The one to pick if you want a companion that writes well and also calls, sends pictures and video. Try the guest chat first, then go yearly if you stay: $9.99 a month instead of $19.99.
Getting in
A full-screen age gate first ("I'm over 18" / "Leave site"), then you're in. You can open any character and chat as a guest. The signup form is passwordless (email code or Google) and says "Free to start. No credit card needed."
One warning: the browse page is fully explicit the moment you pass the age gate, with no safe-mode toggle in front of it. And when we tried to register, the form refused our email address and simply did nothing: no error on screen. If the Continue button doesn't react, try a Gmail or Outlook address.
The free taste
Guests start with 10 DreamCoins, and each message on the default model costs one. We could read five replies; the sixth came back blurred behind "Limit reached for this chat — Sign up to unlock". Signing up gives more free coins, but because our signup was refused we can't tell you how many.
Chat quality and memory
This was the best writing in our test. Replies run 100–150 words, mix narration and dialogue, and push a plot forward instead of just reacting. We picked a popular "angry landlady" character; to our opening line she replied:
I know who you are, Sam. I know every name in this building. That's not the point.
Five messages later we asked what our name was and what we'd told her about our day:
Sam. You work retail, apparently, and your boss kept you late doing inventory.
Name and story right (the "retail" bit was her own guess). Replies start in 2–4 seconds and finish in 5–11. There's no filter on language or romance.
Models, voice and video
The chat panel lets you change model (Balanced, Tester, Muse, Eclipse, plus four "thinking" models at one extra coin per message), writing style, voice, memory and your own persona. There's a voice-call button in every chat, a "Show Scene" button for images, and video generation. Deluxe adds 3x memory and the premium models at no extra cost.
Billing and privacy
Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover), Apple Pay, Google Pay and crypto; no PayPal. Billing is described as "discreet", but the name that appears on your statement isn't given. You can cancel any time and keep access to the end of the period, and the help center explains how to delete your account permanently. The company is Dream Studio USA, Inc. There's no app-store app; you add the site to your home screen.
